I just ordered this lovely area rug at rugsusa.com for my bedroom, they're currently doing a 75% off month long black friday sale. I love the soft color palate and I'm hoping that this one will look even better with age.

Of course I ran it by my husband to make sure it wasn't too girly, but he liked the pattern as well, and our walls are dark dark gray, and our furniture is more on the mid century masculine side (dresser, and accent chair) so I think we're safe. A few months ago I picked up an awesome turkish kilim rug, but at just 5x8 it was way way way too small for our 14x10 bedroom. The new rug is just shy of 8x10 which sounded better, but I had to play around with pixlr to visualize exactly how it would look in the space with our bed/nightstands/dresser...not bad!!!

Holiday Place Setting

After spotting this place setting on Coco Kelley, I am on the hunt for some sweet mismatched dishes at the thrift.  My plain sad white dishes just don't cut it for the holidays or special dinner parties.
I think I've already professed my love of gold flatware and there are some great vintage sets on ebay, and if I could only find a matching champagne coup to go with the set I found awhile back

Christmas Decor

This year I'm more into understated holiday decor.  Of course I still put up my silver tinsel tree, and there is NOTHING understated about that, but for everything else I want to keep it simple. I'm collecting brass candle sticks from the thrift, there are no shortage of those and they are super cheap.  Also now that everything is %60 off at Joannes I'll try to find a nice garland like the one above from Martha Stewart.

Art Snob

I'm not really an art snob at all, I took some super general college classes on art history and impressionism and modern art but basically I know what I like and don't like but that's about it. Rugz

It's getting chilly out in Chicago, especially at night. I need something cozy in my room. I would love to splurge and get a giant 9x11 rug to fit the whole room, but lets be real...
I do not have $6,000 for the rug of my dreams.
So I'm going to cheat and just get 2 runners for either side of the bed. Help me choose, my room is gray, and sad. I'm really leaning towards the red persian. What would you get?

Charley Harper Fish

I love these prints from Charlie Harper. I think they would look perfect above the bed in the Michigan cabin.

Busted

I'm loving these vintage Mug Shot prints from Larkin on Etsy.  I noticed them first on apartment therapy, I'd love to hang 3 above my couch like the above shots, and I have to say this one is my fav. Don't you want to know what they were busted for? $25 gets you a large 18x25 print, NOT BAD

Bedside Rugs

Seems like a strange thing to be looking for when it feels like 100 outside.

The giant ones are way way outta my price range, but these smaller ones would look lovely on either side of my bed.

The bottom 3 are all E-Bay contenders and all under $100.

My room is gray, and the bedding is white, so I need some COLOR, I love the bright reds, blues and pinks, I also dig the ones that are more geometric.

 Gallery wall is done!!! Another project off the list, and the best are the lil polka dot paintings. This was a super simple DIY just some frames from IKEA, some cream colored burlap from Joanns + all your left over room paint (inspired by these bad boys)

Living Room

I've been in the process of sprucing up my living room for....oh ever since we moved in. This is where I'm at now, well sort of. I still need to put together the gallery wall over the couch and make a pipe shelving unit and touch up the lovely gray paint. But I CAN put a fat check mark next to: Kilim, vintage leather couch, long arm chandy, slatted coffee table, pair of comfy wing backs, and a super sweet Eileen Gray brass side table.

Thrift Score

Found this guy at the thrift for $10, DWR has him for $250. So excited, 

and the little brass MCM candle stick holders only sweetened the deal.

Newness
