Neo Classical

Hmm I feel like my style is morphing away from Mid Century Modern into a more Neo Classical Victorian type thing. I've been pinning gorgeous modern brownstones non stop. Maybe my house needs a slight face lift.

Kitchen Update

Finally got a quote to redo our kitchen, woah, not as bad as expected... but also still a ton of money. Previously I was drawn to gray, or two tone cabinets BUT since it's such a big investment I'm going classic bright white.
and...We're going to attempt to hang the cabinets ourselves, more to come

Wallpaper Entry

Love this Damask print, it's big & bold, but in cream and gray/beige so it's not too crazy.  They have it at Lowes and Home Depot, but I ordered it from Wallpapers To Go, and it was way cheaper.

 YAY, I couldn't be happier. Mr W and I crossed off the last of the summer projects. The entry is totally wallpapered, the chair rail is up, just need to hang some art and the mirror...but basically WE'RE DONE

 Some things I learned about wallpapering:

1. patterns are no joke-Figuring out the sq footage is all fine and dandy, but one thing I neglected to think about is that if you are using a pattern you can't re-use any of the pieces you cut away from a door or window :(
2. always order WAY more than you think you need, I re-ordered 3 times
3. wallpaper is expensive...you're probably thinking duh, but for real, I thought I had a cheapish roll, "only $36" but that quickly turned into almost $200
4. Back to patterns, they tell you to always make the most prominent design eye level, but we ended up wasting so much paper that way, and in the end with this pattern (and how often it repeats) I don't think it would have mattered.
5. once you get the hang of it it's easier than painting

Kitchen Love

I've posted this kitchen before (originally spotted over at Little Green Notebook) but here's the full view, and now I'm taking a closer peek because I really really need to redo the kitchen cabinets and  I love everything about these above cabs. The pulls! The open upper shelves! The crown molding!
I'm ready to start tearing to old ones off the walls I'm so inspired.

Living Room

I've been in the process of sprucing up my living room for....oh ever since we moved in. This is where I'm at now, well sort of. I still need to put together the gallery wall over the couch and make a pipe shelving unit and touch up the lovely gray paint. But I CAN put a fat check mark next to: Kilim, vintage leather couch, long arm chandy, slatted coffee table, pair of comfy wing backs, and a super sweet Eileen Gray brass side table.

Make Over:Kitchen

So removing every single thing from our first floor to refinish the floors turned out to be an eye opener. First I realized I have way way way too much shit. Shocking, I know.  My love of thrifting/trolling craigslist really has gotten the better of me. But starting each room from scratch is making me really think about what exactly I want to bring back in. This is what I'm thinking for the kitchen.

Industrial kitchen island that Mr. W and I made-totally makes the cut. 

Thrifted Toledo stools (found for $5, Restoration Hardware for $295) will get some black spray paint

Little Target Rug, the only new thing I'm bringing in.
