Pom Pom

So excited for these dainty little pompom heels! How perfect for all your NYE parties. Most I've spotted around have either a super low heel or are flats. Perfect for dancing your way into 2016. Can't wait for my pair.

Close Enough

I've pinned some version of the shoes on the left a bazillion times, love love love them. Then I stumbled on these Nine West (on sale) wannabees. eh? Close enough... plus the heel is much lower than some of the others I've seen out and about, and I dig that.

Fall Picks

Temps are dropping, and I'm thrilled! As much as I love summer, fall is my jam fashion wise. Here's what my closet is missing for this coming fall. Super cozy boucle sweater jacket, Camel tie up coat, this one for H&M is a good option if I don't find my perfect vintage version... and last but not least, it's time for me to invest in a black leather jacket, Whats on your fall shopping list?

New Denim

While I love skinny jeans as much as the next gal, I'm excited that other cuts and styles are cropping back up.
Here's a round up of my faves  70's flares / Carpenter Jeans / Cropped / High-waisted

moto

Looks like that perfect moto leather jacket isn't going anywhere.  If only I'd run into some thrift store luck and find the perfectly broken in tailored leather moto jacket in my size. Stranger things have happened...

Menswear

These arrived in the mail today, and I have to say they look even better in person.  Super soft leather, snake skin embossed suede, and the d'orsay ish cut outs keep them slightly fem. Once they went on sale for $30 at H&M they sold out in a heart beat, but I snagged a pair thanks to Poachit, have you heard of it yet? Pretty much the best idea ever...kinda like pinterest; you paste a URL of something you want and you get an email when it goes on sale.  BRILLIANT

501

While Levi's 501's weren't my first pair of jeans, they were definitely some of the earliest jeans I remember owning (middle school maybe?), so I'm happy to see them back popping up all over pinterest.
Whether they're tight and high waisted, daisy dukes, or slouchy boyfriend... I dig this timeless iconic cut. Everyone from Jane Birkin, to Alexa Chung has been photog'd in them.
What I wouldn't give to have my original thrifted pair back with the worn wallet mark (this is the down side of not being a packrat, I go through my closet every season and get rid of a ton, I wonder what else I'll regret parting with in a few years time)
While it's not quite the same, I did find a pair recently at salvation army, and they've since been the weekend uniform.
I'm not usually a slave to comfort, but these jeans + the dressy track pant trend feels like pure luxury to me,

So What's New?

Here's a collection from around the house : Succulents! so far these guys are going strong hopefully in the coming months they will fill in the pot a bit, but the string of pearls have already grown 2 inches. I'm going to try my best not to kill them.  Marble Cheese Plate: I originally got the idea from this pin, it's just a marble floor tile with some little plastic protectors on the bottom, I decided I liked it better with out handles.  New Kilim: another super sweet craigslist score only $75.  Marble Outdoor Table: "Things I've made out of Tile" could almost be it's own blog post, which reminds me I don't think I ever posted about the slate cheese tray I made, probably because it hardly seems like a DIY, but it sure beats buying those expensive ones, a slate tile will cost about $2, but back to my new little outdoor table...I bought 2 from target last summer for $5 each.  They originally looked like this until the seat cushion got hopelessly ruined in the rain, luckily a 12x12 marble tile fits perfectly on top.  Dansk Kobenstyle: I found this guy at Homegoods 50% off the crate&barrel price, not as satisfying as finding a vintage one for $2 at the thrift, but still pretty good... and lastly my Fav New Shirt Right Now: kinda mens pajama ish, but I love it.

What's new with you?

Indian Inspired Flats

I'm crazy for the above embellished Indian inspired black flats. I feel like in every other pic of Olivia Palermo she's sporting these unidentified shoes. It's turned into a slight obsession, I've even trolled outfitID looking for info. Yikes I've got to stop... it's highly likely that they are a bazillion dollars, or custom, or from some tiny market in Morocco. But I can't get them out of my head. want want want

Speaking of Kaftans

This is probably the perfect Kaftan right here. HA
There's even a video of it on the site.

Totally out of my price range, but I love the print on the sheer fabric and POM-POMs + tassels YESSSS, I'm dying.

Wear it as a super chic beach cover up, or with leggings, OR if you just stitch up the sides a bit you could rock it as a dress.

I'm keeping my eyes peeled for fabric, and trims to hopefully do my own DIY version for this summer.

Caftan

Over the weekend I tried on the above Urban Outfitter- Urban Renewal Caftan.  I loved the shape, but not to scratchy stiff fabric. Basically this thing is just a giant rectangle with a neck hole and a draw string on the front and back panels. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled at the thrift for a perfectly lacy curtain or table cloth, maybe some tiny pom pom trim or bias tape to make it look more finished and I think stitching up the sides a bit couldn't hurt. Hopefully I'll have the perfect summer cover up in no time--Wish me luck.

snip snip

Channeling Sincerely Jules with this thrift dress make over. Love the little kick pleat at the front, but not the length, so I hemmed about 2 feet of the bottom and took in the sides to make a size 10 dress into a size 4.

I also played Frankenstein and spliced two tops together into one cute lil crop top.  I'm a little on the fence if 32 is too old for a crop top...maybe with some high-waisted jeans? Or some super toned Abs? Maybe?

Staying Warm

Still waiting for spring to happen in Chicago, we got a taste on Sunday with some 60 degree weather, then it dropped again.  I picked up this super cozy sweater over the weekend, I first spotted it on Le Catch, and while it isn't something I would normally pick, I LOVED IT.  Some Besties were in town from Detroit, so it was the perfect excuse to head to the mag mile for some shopping. All the sweaters were on sale at H&M and Zara. Considering how things are going, I'll probably be wearing it for another 2 months.

Thrift Haul

Last weekend was a good weekend for thrifting! Some friends were in town from Detroit so we hit all the usual spots as well as some record stores, and this is what I ended up with: Moroccan poison purse, my new fave jeans Gap 1969 always skinny, and this gap moto jacket (similar).
I usually look for vintage, but I'm not going to pass up some last season Gap goodness.

Fall Favs

Just ordered this jacket from H&M, between this and my zara thrift score#1 and #2 I'm more than set on outerwear.  This summer was all about fancy necklaces, dang the ones at J Crew were way too $$$ so I'm glad to see that Zara has some more affordable ones out.  Last Winter I got a bottle of Tokyo Dark-Arsenic, with notes like Sea Salt, Vanilla Bean, Cut Greens, Cardamom, Crushed Fennel, Woods, Tonka, and Absinthe, it feels totally fall to me.  I've never bought anything at Madewell before, so maybe this lil gold ring will be the first? Black D'orsay flats from Zara...nothing super fall ish about these, I jut want them
and finally you can't do fall with out moccasins, these are Minnetonka and I just figured out that I can fit into a child's size 4 (kids sz 4 = ladies sz 6) so moccasins just got a whole lot cheaper y'all

New York New York

Headed to NYC this weekend for a wedding, and of course it's supposed to rain the whole time!!! We'll be flying Spirit again so there are some major baggage limitations, the Mr. and I are just planning on packing light and bringing a purse/backpack.  Not even a carry on! Just a personal item. it's totally doable, you always need way way less than you think, for 2.5 weeks in Europe I packed a small carry on suitcase, and had a purse.

So I'm bringing: black shorts from zara (technically I think its a scort?), a leather tote... everything's fitting in here y'all...which will double as my purse when we get there, sunnies duh, a hat (I'm blond and my head burns, boo), tons of jewelry/scarvs makes each outfit look fresh but takes up NO room, jean shorts, a few cute tops, and plain tanks which roll up so tiny, and good walking sandals, plus a dress for the wedding/heels and all that.

Think I can fit it all?

Frenchie Style

In the states I think we obsess over french style (I know I'm guilty too) although on my recent trip I have to say I was less than impressed, It was strange to see sooooo many girls in Paris wearing the same 3 staples, almost like a uniform. Of course, I'm also on the look out for a great leather moto, converse really are practical for those cobble stones, and I bought a Longchamp bag while I was there...so what do I know HA

but what happened to personal style?

Spring Cleaning/Shopping

I've tried to stick to my January budget for as long as I can especially since I'm doing alot of traveling this year....but spring has sprung.
I just need to add a few springy staples: Ankle pants, flowy tops, sunnies, scarves, and I really can't wait to slip into some shoes, after the months and months of boots.

Thrift DIY

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I made the 5 hr trek to MI to be with my friends and family for Tofurkey Day.  I ate until I was feeling gross, and shopped until I was feeling poor.
I peeked in at the thrift and had really good luck!!!  Found the above dress for $2 and loved everything about it except for the tacky Hawaiian flowers. Tada!
